BRILLIANT IDEAS is a documentary TV series on the world’s most exciting art personalities, produced by MAKE Productions (London/Singapore) and funded by Hyundai. The series was broadcasted on Bloomberg TV and profiled a living contemporary artist in each half hour episode, with 75 episodes over three years. It was shot in multiple locations around the world to explore the true impact of their stories.

In its first year the series featured a stellar line up of internationally acclaimed artists including English sculptor and ceramic artist Grayson Perry, American sculptor Michael Joo, New Zealand sculptor and installation artist Simon Denny, English sculptor and installation artist Cornelia Parker, Japanese visual and installation artist Mariko Mori, and Swiss visual artist Pipilotti Rist. The following seasons included celebrities like pioneer of performance art Marina Abramović, American graffiti artist and designer KAWS and Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.

Maria Stanisheva directed Brilliant Ideas Episode #5 on Mariko Mori. Splitting time between New York and Tokyo, Mori broke into the international exhibition scene at the 1997 Istanbul Biennale. She was invited to present at many reputable exhibitions including the 25th Bienal de São Paulo in 2002, the 47th and 51th Venice Biennale in 1997 and 2005 respectively, and the Singapore Biennale in 2006. Mori has also presented at the Royal Academy of Arts and the Serpentine Galleries in London, and Centre Pompidou in Paris. Recognized by numerous international awards including the prestigious Menzioni d’Onore (Honorary Mentions) at the 47th Venice Biennale in 1997, Mori’s works are included in the collection of many prominent institutions, including the Guggenheim Museum and MoMA.
